Alabama Focus Program
The Alabama Focus Program promotes school and community partnerships for the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other risky behaviors.
Supported by the Alabama Department of Public Health, The Alabama State Department of Education and the Governor’s Commission on HIV/AIDS, the Focus Program is based on a youth led approach and seeks youth involvement in planning prevention activities in schools.
Implemented through health education, health science classes, family and consumer science classes or as an extra-curricular activity, the Focus Program empowers young people to advocate for HIV/AIDS prevention programs and to coordinate HIV awareness activities in their individual schools.
There are 109 Alabama schools who have implemented the Focus Program, including four in Madison County.
