Programs For Adults

Man 2 Man
A multi session individual counseling program designed for African American Men between the ages of 18 and 44 who are at high risk for contracting HIV. The goal of Man 2 Man is to reduce the transmission/spread of HIV through education and risk reduction counseling by providing a safe one-on -one environment where clients can ask questions, learn skills, discuss risks, and set prevention goals. Clients are provided with an outlet to explore subject matter that they may not be able to discuss during traditional outreach. A Prevention Case Manager will be assigned to provide participants with emotional support and provide a bridge to community resources and information. Incentives are provided to participants who complete required sessions.

Talk, Listen, Connect (TLC)
A six session, relationship-based program that teaches couples techniques and skills to enhance the quality of their relationship, communication, and shared commitment to safer behaviors. The program is based on the AIDS Risk Reduction Model, which organizes behavior change into three phases: recognize risk, commit to change, and act on strategies. Emphasis is placed on emphasizing the personal, relational, and societal influences on behavior. Counselors will apply techniques commonly used in family therapy, allowing couples to work together to solve shared problems.

Healthy Start
An individual-level, multi-session program for people being released from a correctional facility and returning to the community. It is based on the conceptual framework of Incremental Risk Reduction, and focuses on increasing clients' awareness of their HIV, STI, and Hepatitis risk behaviors after release. Sessions begin within a correctional setting prior to release and continue after release into the community.

VOICES
Video Opportunities for Innovative Condom Education & Safer Sex
A group-level, single-session video-based intervention designed to increase condom use among heterosexual African American and Latino men and women.

SISTA
Sisters Informing Sisters on Topics about AIDS
A group-level, gender- and culturally- relevant intervention, is designed to increase condom use with African American women. Five peer-led group sessions are conducted that focus on ethnic and gender pride, HIV knowledge, and skills training around sexual risk reduction behaviors and decision making. The intervention is based on Social Learning theory as well as the theory of Gender and Power.

American Red Cross HIV Fundamentals and Prevention Skills Programs
The Fundamentals Program uses facts-based discussion to reinforce information about HIV transmission and prevention, dispel myths about HIV and AIDS, and help participants learn from their own experiences and those of others. Activities encourage people to apply the facts to their own behaviors.
Participants in Prevention Skills apply the facts about HIV to risk situations in which they might find themselves. For example, participants practice how to refuse invitations to have sex or use drugs. Role play can also equip them with ways to talk about using condoms before the situation arises.
